How it works
From booking to a medication plan, in four steps.
Everything on this page takes place between the patient and the practice. There is no referral form to complete, no account for a therapist to maintain, and no web form collecting clinical detail. The patient books, the practice verifies coverage before the first visit, and the appointments themselves are given the time they require.
The care described here is the same medication care presented to patients at PsychMed Care. This page sets out the path a patient follows to reach it, for therapists who want to know what they are pointing a patient toward.
The steps
What a patient actually does
Step 1: The patient books
The patient books through the IntakeQ booking link, through Spruce, or by telephone at (800) 303-3221. The three options are gathered on the booking page, and booking takes only a few minutes. The therapist's part is simply to pass along the link or the number.
Step 2: Coverage is verified first
Before the first visit, the practice checks the patient's insurance and confirms the exact cost. Self-pay fees are $350 for the 60-minute intake evaluation and $250 for each 30-minute follow-up visit. With insurance, copays typically run from $0 to $40 per visit. No patient learns the price after the fact.
Step 3: A full-hour intake evaluation
The first visit is a complete evaluation and assessment. It covers the medication history, what has helped and what has failed, the physical picture, and the treatment already under way. From that visit onward, the patient is Dr. Winner's patient for medication management, and prescribing decisions, monitoring, and medication safety rest with him.
Step 4: Thirty-minute follow-up visits
Follow-up visits last a full 30 minutes, with the same prescriber the patient met at the intake, and track whether the plan is doing what it was chosen to do. Changes are made one at a time, at doses selected for a stated reason. A medication that is not working is reviewed on its merits and, where it is not earning its place, reduced or stopped.
Coverage notes
